Land’s End

Pictures from Fawn’s visit, April 2003.

Vince near China Beach. I think this was called “Eagle’s Point” but I’m not sure.

The girl next to Vince is his friend Fawn, who is staying with us this weekend. This is also at Eagle’s Point, but at the end of a walkway that wound around the cliff. We’re past Golden Gate Bridge, so this is the Pacific Ocean. Vince is looking towards the Presidio.

Further West along the trail you can actually go down to the beach. It was difficult to get someone in the picture here, but I thought it was a neat scene so I took a snapshot anyway.

Although you unfortunately can’t tell, Vince is actually at the very edge of a very steep drop. The beach in the previous picture is (far) below and to the left.

Same place, with Vince and Fawn.

These are some of the ruins at the Sutro baths. Opened in 1896, the Sutro baths were rather upscale. Apparently the pools were filled by the tides via a system of gates. They included a restaurant, a theater and a museum that held Egyptian artifacts. They were in the process of being bulldozed in 1966 when a fire leveled them completely. If you look closely you can see Vince, Fawn and Fawn’s friend John in the center of the picture. They took the hard route down and I took the easy route.
